EE 4G continues to innovate
The EE 4G network, which is now available to over half the UK population, is to have its speed and capacity doubled in a move that will demonstrate the communications company’s continued excellence and innovation in this market.
The new double-speed service is to be introduced to ten of the country’s main cities by the summer, with Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield and Manchester all on the list for integration.
The double-speed 4G network, which enables lab speeds of up to 130Mbps, will mean that headline network speeds can reach up to 80Mbps and therefore double the average speeds for its customers.
The 1800MHz spectrum bandwidth dedicated to the network will be doubled in order to improve the service, rising from 10MHz to 20MHz. This move will mean that the capacity for customers greatly increases and will enable them to access some of the highest mobile speeds around.
In a practical sense, this means that users of the network will be able to download and upload pictures of much higher quality and resolution. It also means that HD video can easily be uploaded and shared, and that peer-to-peer video can be pin-point sharp. Multi-tasking whilst on the move will also be more practical, with phones now capable of using social networks, watching HD videos and browsing the web simultaneously. Much larger files than ever before can be shared or uploaded, or stored in the cloud, and a genuine ‘mobile office’ can become a reality.
