Samsung Galaxy S5 goes on sale
The latest handset from Samsung ‒ the Galaxy S5 ‒ has now been launched in the UK, less than a year after the company launched the S4.
Some of the key features of the latest flagship handset are a 16MP camera, combined Wi-Fi and 4G for high-speed downloads, and a fingerprint scanning system to make online shopping more secure. Industry experts have stated that Samsung is now pushing the boundaries of smartphone technology; however, it has also been suggested that there could have been more in the way of radical new features.
The handset has been launched alongside a range of wearable devices: the Gear Fit, the Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo. It is now possible to obtain these devices in 125 countries around the world. The launch saw customers who had pre-ordered their handsets enjoying a champagne reception in nine Samsung Experience Stores and were offered ‘Smart Academy’ demonstrations to show them how to make use of the great features on the new phone.
The company showcased the new handset at the Mobile World Congress back in February. It is resistant to water and dust and has an ultra power saving mode; other features include a heart rate sensor, compass, barometer and gyro. The internal memory is increased to 32GB, which can be expanded to 128GB with a microSD card. The battery offers a talk time of 21 hours and a standby time of 390 hours.
