Samsung and Amazon launch Kindle app
It has been announced that Samsung and Amazon have struck a partnership agreement to create an ebook app for Samsung devices.
The app, which enables Samsung customers to access Kindle services, can be used on the flagship Galaxy S5 and other Galaxy smartphones and tablets using a minimum of Android 4.0 as their operating system. The partnership will launch book deals for Samsung users of Kindle services, which means that users could obtain up to 12 ebooks each year free of charge if using a Galaxy device.
The app has been made instantly available to Samsung users in more than 90 countries around the world. The VP of the Samsung European media solutions centre, Lee Epting, stated that the company is delighted about the partnership with Amazon and believes that the new app is ideal for allowing users to read ebooks on smartphones and tablets. Samsung has also stated that it believes it has strengthened and demonstrated its commitment to creating strong partnerships that will enhance the user experience for all Samsung customers.
The VP for Kindle EU, Jorrit Van der Meulen, stated that the company is thrilled that Samsung chose Kindle as the format for its ebook app. The partnership will allow Samsung users around the world to have immediate access to the best ebook store and reading experience, as there are currently hundreds of thousands of titles that are exclusively available from the Kindle Store plus innovative features such as Time to Read and Whispersync.
