bt-ee-takeover

It is official. EE has now become part of the BT Group, creating one of the largest telecommunications companies in the UK.

BT has announced that the merging of the two companies will allow BT to become stronger in the development of new technologies, such as 5G and ultrafast fibre. Customers are set to receive letters from the company detailing the impact the merger is going to have; for example, small business customers will receive details of a dedicated webpage that offers support through the process.

EE customers are being reassured that there will be no discernible change in their services. Products and support will remain the same, as will the contact details when help is needed. Users will note that the signal on their handset will still say ‘EE’ and the network will not change. Mobile plans will remain the same and there will be no changes to the users’ terms and conditions.

Customers of EE will still be able to upgrade their handsets and services when they are eligible to do so. The merger will not change the terms of a contract, meaning that those who want to cancel their contract early will still be subject to early termination charges.

The merger could see new services becoming available over time, which will be announced when they are confirmed.
