iPhone 8 review
Apple’s iPhone 8 is now available. If you compare the exteriors of the three earlier versions of the smartphone (iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone 7) to the iPhone 8, then you will see very little difference. While it is slightly larger and heavier than its predecessors, this is not highly noticeable. However, the iPhone 8 does offer some new features to entice you to upgrade from your older smartphone.
Wireless charging
The iPhone 8 has a glass back that enables users to charge its battery wirelessly. The wireless charging system is Qi-compatible, allowing you to use non-Apple wireless charging accessories.
Augmented reality (AR)
This new iPhone can provide you with outstanding AR experiences using ARKit, SiriKit, CoreML and other APIs. The Apple store offers a robust choice of AR apps.
True Tone display
The iPhone 8 features True Tone technology, which incorporates a four-channel light sensor to change the phone screen’s white balance to match the colour temperature of the surrounding light. This technology makes the images on your phone appear as if they were on a printed page, thereby easing eye strain.
Improved speakers
The redesigned speakers in the iPhone 8 are up to 25% louder, giving a deeper bass sound and improving the audio quality of music and videos.
Improved chipset
The A11 Bionic chipset in the iPhone 8 is the smartest and most powerful chip that Apple has ever provided. It features a six-core CPU design that offers a strong battery life and performance and is optimised for AR apps and 3D games.
Improved camera
The iPhone 8 features a 12MP rear-facing camera with a larger sensor and optical image stabilisation (OIS).
This smartphone comes with Apple’s latest operating system, iOS 11, and it is available in silver, gold and space grey. The 64GB model lists for £699, and the 256GB model lists for £849.
