Is the iPhone X worth the wait?
Apple’s iPhone X won’t be available until 3rd November, but there are good reasons why you should wait for its release. Keep in mind that it’s more than a phone – it’s also an excellent digital camera, a portable TV, a camcorder, a sat nav device, a music player and a notebook computer. If you bought all these items separately, then it would cost you much more than the iPhone X’s list price of £999. Here are some of the features that make it stand out over the iPhone 8.
The iPhone X features a 5.8-inch display compared to the iPhone 8’s 4.7-inch display, yet it fits into a chassis that is only slightly larger. The iPhone X virtually eliminates the borders around the display, so it does not have any wasted space and provides about 20% more vertical space for content.
The rear camera on the iPhone X is much more advanced than that on the iPhone 8/iPhone 8 Plus. While both smartphones feature 12-megapixel wide-angle and telephoto cameras, wide-angle f/1.8 apertures and optical zoom, the iPhone X has a telephoto f/2.4 aperture for better performance in low-light situations. Also, the iPhone X features dual optical image stabilisation on both telephoto and wide-angle operations, while the iPhone 8 Plus only has dual optical image stabilisation in wide-angle mode.
The iPhone X uses Face ID to unlock the phone, which is much more reliable than the Touch ID used on the iPhone 8. A swipe up from the bottom of the iPhone X replaces the home button on the iPhone 8.
Also, the iPhone X display has the highest pixel density/highest contrast ratio that Apple has ever featured on an iPhone.
There is no doubt – the iPhone X is worth the wait.
