Samsung confirms Galaxy S10 launch date
Samsung has confirmed that it will launch its next flagship smartphone on 20th February at its “Unpacked” event at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California. The company will broadcast the event live on its website, www.samsung.com, beginning at 7pm GMT.
“We’ve set our sights on Galaxy’s future and are focusing on engineering the technologies and breakthroughs that will continue to transform the mobile landscape,” Samsung said in a blog post.
The Galaxy S10 should include many outstanding features, including Samsung’s version of Face ID, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and an Infinity-O display.
Samsung is likely to unveil three versions of the new handset at the launch, with variations in specifications, size and price. All three models will include advanced camera technology, and leaks suggest that the cameras will incorporate effects traditionally found in DSLR cameras.
The standard Galaxy S10 should feature a 6.1-inch screen and one front-facing camera. Leaks indicate that it will be the same size as the current Galaxy S9 but feature slimmer bezels.
The entry-level Galaxy S10 E should feature a 5.8-inch screen and have fewer hardware updates.
The high-end Galaxy S10 Plus will be the successor to the Galaxy S9 Plus and should feature a larger 6.4-inch display, a large battery, two front-facing cameras and up to four rear-facing cameras. It could retail at up to £1,399.
Some analysts expect Samsung to unveil its folding smartphone alongside the Galaxy S10 on 20th February, while others think that the company might wait a week and launch it at MWC19 in Barcelona, Spain, thereby providing the company with a second round of publicity.
The Galaxy S10 will not ship until 8th March.
