Survey puts EE as best mobile network in UK
A survey has placed EE in top position in mobile network rankings in the UK.
The network operator was revealed to have been in first place or tied in first place in every category that was examined by the survey; in contrast, Vodafone was bottom of the pile in all categories except two. The company carrying out the survey, RootMetrics, spent time driving around the UK collecting data in all four countries. Standard ‘off the shelf’ mobiles were used during the testing and were examined in thousands of locations.
Categories included calls, texts, mobile internet, network reliability and network speed. In the latter category EE scored 102.4, far beyond the 75.9 achieved by second-placed O2. EE won overall performance in all four countries, tying for first place with Three in Wales. For network reliability Vodafone’s score in Scotland was rated as ‘below minimum performance threshold’ and the same fate befell it in Wales, although this time it was joined by O2. Vodafone did manage a second place ranking on network speed in Scotland.
The CEO and president of RootMetrics, Bill Moore, stated that the information can give both businesses and consumers the accurate data they need on mobile performance in the country. It is thought that this is the first study of this size and scale.
EE welcomed the results of the study, which demonstrate that it offers the best mobile experience, and attributed its success to large-scale investment and new innovative systems that improve service quality.
